Renee WilloughbyEating Vegan in Vegas
Renee Marchitto
What do you do when you find yourself in Vegas staying at the Wynn? You #eatalltheveganthings of course! If you're unfamiliar with why it is a little vegan mecca, the owner Steve Wynn became vegan in 2010 and added vegan options to all of the restaurants in the hotel. And we're not just talking steamed broccoli on top of rice (which don't get me wrong, that can be delicious) but rather pasta, pizzas, dumplings, curries, crab cakes and so much more that it was impossible to try everything in one weekend. But hey, we gave it a go, ate ourselves silly and took...
Vegan Getaway in NorCal
Renee MarchittoRecently, my husband and I set-off for a little road trip to Northern California to visit family. While up there, we were able to check out a couple of vegan restaurants we had never been before and of course there may have been a brewery (or two) thrown in! According to a recent Thrillist article, they named Santa Cruz as the hippiest city in California so naturally, I wanted to check it out because usually hippie=vegan food galore. After what felt like a year of driving, we finally arrived in Santa Cruz...hungry and a little cranky. Thanks to Happy Cow app...
Leilani Farm Sanctuary: A Paradise for Animals...in Paradise!
Renee WilloughbyDuring a recent trip to Maui for a wedding, I thought it would be a good opportunity to seek out a local farm sanctuary to visit. When possible, I would love to donate to sanctuaries I have personally visited. Leilani Farm Sanctuary sits on a beautiful, eight-acre farm in Haiku, HI. I mean, just look at this entrance! Leilani Farm Sanctuary is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that provides shelter and care to rescued animals. The sanctuary is home to a variety of animals including donkeys, goats, cats, rabbits, chickens, turkeys and deer. Most of their animals were once abused, neglected...
The Animal Museum

Renee WilloughbyAfter the recent grand opening of The Animal Museum in downtown Los Angeles, I found myself reminiscing about the night of the preview opening in October. The Animal Museum is a one of a kind space that examines and raises awareness about our relationships with animals. As soon as I found out tickets were available for the preview, I was immediately sold because a museum dedicated to animals + unlimited vegan hors d'oeuvres (you bet I had to Google how to spell that) + vegan booze (not unlimited but still...)= my kind of Saturday night. I was also happy to read...
